Peter Bebjak introduces a voyeurist psychological drama which presents all contexts to the audience only gradually. Depressed Tomáš works as a cleaner of homes of deceased, which has lead him to a bizarre fetish of watching their living relatives. Initial confusion about motivations and mutual relationships supports the feeling anticipation. In connection with exceptional acting and authentic sound-track The Cleaner represents in its homeland a truly commendable creation, not only genre-wise, but also quality-wise, thanks to which it can be classified as one of the progressive representations of the Slovak “new wave”.
