Genderblend is the story of five young people who feel neither as women nor as men. They see their place “somewhere in between”. In their everyday lives, Lisa, Anne, Dennis, Lashawn and Selm are confronted with their otherness, and each of them overcomes these obstacles in their own way. They, however, all share the courage to be visibly and publicly who they feel to be. This documentary follows its protagonists with interest, curiosity and understanding to all that lies beyond the usual binary division of gender roles. Together with its characters, it breaks down rigid views and celebrates human individuality. Wouldn’t it be liberating to finally break out of the constricting norms that dictate how we perceive ourselves?
