The Hop Pickers
One of the first and most popular Czechoslovak musicals was first introduced in 1964 and just like all the other films from the mid 60s it contains the reflection of the era of political melting. The genre itself is a rebellion as well as a pleasant refreshment of the contemporary film catalogue, as up until then no musicals based on the American model were introduced within the local context. The film is not only a contemporary entertaining trifle beginning with a solo of three boys with guitars, but also a lighthearted illustration of an individual growing into an honourable human being regardless of which era it is.
