The Astronaut Lovers
Is sexuality truly fluid? This is what young Pedro is trying to figure out as he returns to Argentina to enjoy the summer with his family and old friends. His friend Maxi’s just broken up with his girlfriend, making it the perfect time to reminisce about the carefree past and their boyhood antics. The relationship between Pedro and Maxi is the perfect bromance. But the constant jabs, teasing and flirting might be pulling them together closer than they admit. They soon involve others in their game and the line between joking around and reality starts to crumble. Marco Berger’s conversational romantic comedy, characteristically full of the boyish immaturity of adult men, shifts its focus from his previous Horseplay to the search for real feelings. This film, which opened the Queer Screen Film Fest in Sydney, will certainly leave you with plenty to think about!
Director and screenwriter Marco Berger established himself with the short film The Watch (2008), which screened at Cannes and Sundance. After studying at the Buenos Aires Film School, he debuted with the feature drama Plan B (2009). His films always premiered at prestigious festivals (Berlinale, Venice, Mardi Gras, Rotterdam, Guadalajara) and he received many awards (Teddy Award, Sunny Bunny – Molodist, Sebastiane Latino – San Sebastian).
