Der siebzehnjährige Simon schwänzt an einem Sommertag den Sportunterricht und landet mit einer Gruppe Teenager am Ufer eines nahe gelegenen Flusses. Die Zeit zwischen aufblasbaren Matratzen und ziellosem Geschwätz vergeht so langsam wie das ruhige Wasser im Fluss. Der Nachmittag scheint endlos, das Zeitgefühl verschwimmt und wird immer unklarer. Erst als Marie auftaucht und beide durch ein unerwartetes Ereignis gemeinsam in den nahe gelegenen Wald katapultiert und aus ihrer Lethargie gerissen werden, betreten sie das zeitlose Reich einer bezaubernden Landschaft.
