Pyromaniac
Norway, 1978. Forests and abandoned buildings around a village in the south of the country are set on fire. Dag, the 19-year-old son of the fire brigade chief, strives in vain to gain respect in the community and in his workplace. He rambles through the woods with a canister of petrol and matches. Arson is the one and only activity that enhances his self-confidence. After finding out that the view of burning nature and empty structures does not satisfy him, the lonely teenager focuses on inhabited buildings. A master of the Nordic thriller, Erik Skjoldbjærg presents a spine-chilling portrait of a pyromaniac, one inspired by real events.
