On the Water

The film On the Water is a mixture of an ironic water road-movie and metaphysical guidebook. It tells a story of several people on the roads and waters of Podkrušnohoří along with the story of the landscape itself which is always in motion, always unfathomable, unreliable and unstable, although stunning and almost dream-like. A hermit called Sep is trying to live a contemplative life in the former industrial zone turned wilderness. A young woman Julia’s dog has got lost in the area. Julia is desperate and Sep tries to help her, although he knows that everything that is happening with Julia, her dog and the entire landscape is out of reach of his real powers and that if he really wants to keep helping and working here the only thing he has at his disposal is really just his magic.
