Endless Borders
Spending his days in an underprivileged area near the Afghan border, Ahmad tries to make sense of his fate, living the life of an exile far away from Tehran where his heart as well as his troubled political past still belong. It is here that his new life faces even more complications when he grapples to protect a girl trapped in an arranged marriage and gets deeply involved in the social politics of his hosts. Things get even more complicated when a love story from the past catches up with him in his new home that is surrounded by expansive mountains and endless borders stretching across the desert.
Winner of the Big Screen Competition at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, ENDLESS BORDER has been praised as one of the best films of Iranian cinema of recent years. It delves into the complexities of Iranian politics, family dynamics, ethnic tensions, and a repressive regime pushing the lives of ordinary people to an irreversible dead end.
