All You Need Is Kill

More than a decade after Edge of Tomorrow, the story inspired by the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill returns to cinemas. This new animated feature from Warner Bros. follows Rita Vrataski in her battle against the Mimics, offering a take that stays closer to the source material while exploring themes of free will and self-sacrifice for the greater good.

It has been over ten years since the action-packed sci-fi Edge of Tomorrow became an unexpected summer blockbuster. Starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in military exosuits, the film pitted humanity against the seemingly invincible Mimics, with Cruise’s character caught in a time loop, reliving the same day each time he dies. Adapted directly from the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill, it quickly became a modern cult favourite. Now, Warner Bros. revisits the beloved story in a new animated film – this time shifting the perspective to Rita Vrataski. With a stronger commitment to the source material, the film delves more deeply into the novel’s central questions: the nature of free will, and the sacrifices demanded in the fight for a greater good.
