14th-century France. As he gradually loses favour with Count Pierre d'Alençon, the battle-scarred veteran knight, Sir Jean de Carrouges, has a falling out with his brother-in-arms and former friend, squire Jacques Le Gris, after saving his life in the Battle of Poitiers. Then, much to Jean's horror, his beautiful wife, Marguerite de Thibouville, accuses Le Gris of rape. To defend her honour, wronged Jean accuses Jacques of the hideous crime against Marguerite before the court of His Majesty, King Charles VI, requesting a duel--a custom outlawed years ago. However, truth is in the eye of the beholder. As a result, the interpretation of three different realities and three conflicting points of view culminates in a gruelling match to the death. Who will emerge victorious in the last duel?
